Tales of medieval Syria
For my second Async Blueprint I examined two things: (1) is it possible to make a very small amount of editions (max three) and (2) can I regain control over the algorithm so that I am able to determine exactly what an edition will look like?
The answer is yes! “Tales of medieval Syria” consists of only one layer with three states. Every state covers the entire image and is a unique artwork. With a maximum of three editions, every state will be drawn. The only uncertainty is: which artwork will you get?
I like the gambling aspect of Blueprints, you never know what you'll get. Normally you have a clue because the artist will share some teasers in advance, but this time you must mint blindly since I will not share any visuals, plus the three works of art are quite different from each other.
Do you have enough confidence in me to mint an edition? I believe in my art and in the community AND there is no art without risk, so let's go! 🦾

I made this work of Michael Chiesa (and Jim Miller) to promote Chiesa’s UFC fight against Vicente Luque on August 7 2021. To see people fighting evokes all kinds of emotions e.g. disgust, excitement, fear, but I also see brotherhood, the craving for love (from the audience) - even in a lethal rear choke I see two fighters waiting impatiently for the situation to end!
To make this work timeless I focussed on what the fighters endure. They feel each others warmth, their slippery skins, the taste of blood in their mouths. They are in pain and adrenaline rushes through their veins. It is already clear who wins and who loses, but they can’t stand up yet, they both wait for Miller to accept his defeat.
This work is about these milliseconds in the fight that are so intimate. The whole world is watching, but it’s up to them what happens next and when. I erased the audience and zoomed in on this intimacy so we can forget the obvious spectacle to see just that: a band of fighters
